Gobustan in One Day: Volcanoes, Ancient Life, Petroglyphs & Kolobok Tasting
This exciting one-day family tour is perfect for adults and children who love nature, history and hands-on experiences. You will visit interactive museums, walk among active mud volcano craters, explore Gobustan UNESCO petroglyphs, and taste traditional Azerbaijani pastries.
The tour starts with modern museum exhibits featuring real skeletons of prehistoric animals — ancient bulls, horses and deer — as well as preserved reptiles and marine species. You’ll also explore a collection of volcanic and geological minerals formed by oil and gas processes, representing the unique nature of Azerbaijan.
Next, you’ll visit the mud volcano fields, observing bubbling craters up close. In Gobustan, you’ll see thousands of ancient rock carvings showing hunting scenes, ritual dances and animals, including the famous Roman legionary inscription from the 1st century.
